About the Product
Carpil is a centralized carpooling marketplace that connects drivers and passengers going to the same destination in a safe, structured, and reliable way powered by Stellar blockchain infrastructure for secure payments and verifiable reputation.
Carpil solves the core problems by:
- Creating verified profiles so users know who they are traveling with
- Displaying all ride details in one place (price, time, meeting point, available seats)
- Enabling in-app chat to coordinate without switching platforms
- Providing reliable ride matching and confirmations to reduce uncertainty
- Supporting secure in-app payments using escrow contracts via Trustless Work, built on Stellar, where funds are locked on-chain at the moment of booking and automatically released to the driver only when the ride is completed satisfactorily eliminating informal cash payments and protecting both parties
- Offering invisible wallets powered by Stellar, with social login, so every user has a real Stellar wallet operating in the background without needing to manage private keys, seed phrases, or any crypto knowledge keeping a Web2 feel while running on Web3 infrastructure
- Building on-chain reputation through non-transferable Soulbound NFT badges minted on Stellar, earned by completing rides creating a tamper-proof record of real behavior that lives on the blockchain and cannot be faked or transferred
- Issuing verifiable credentials on Stellar for drivers and riders who complete identity and safety challenges, so trust is not just self-reported but cryptographically proven and permanently tied to each user's on-chain identity
The result is a faster, safer, and more trustworthy carpooling experience that saves money, reduces traffic, lowers environmental impact, and gives every user a portable, tamper-proof reputation layer built entirely on Stellar turning each ride into a verifiable, on-chain event.
Problem & Solutions
Problem
People who need to move from point A to point B frequently or occasionally are poorly served by existing transportation options. Public transportation is often inefficient, uncomfortable, inflexible, and time-consuming, while owning a car or using ride-hailing apps is expensive and unsustainable.
Carpooling is a strong alternative, but today it is fragmented and broken.
Most carpooling happens in Facebook and WhatsApp groups, which creates several critical problems:
-
Lack of security and trust: Passengers and drivers don’t know who they are traveling with.
-
Poor information structure: Key details like price, departure time, meeting point, and available seats are unclear or buried in chat threads.
-
High coordination friction: Users must jump between platforms (Facebook → WhatsApp → calls) to complete a single ride.
-
Noise and spam: Users must join multiple groups and constantly monitor messages to find a relevant ride.
